The Songbook of the Baron in the Trees

2014

A chamber opera by composer Ivo Nilsson inspired by the book The Baron in the Trees by the Italian author Italo Calvino. This opera is a commission by the ensemble Lipparella who specialize in contemporary music written for baroque instruments. In this performance the ensemble is joined by the actor Kirsti Thorhaug who, in dialogue with the counter tenor Michael Bellini, tells the story about the young boy who climbs up into the trees from where he observes the world, philosophizes and lives his whole life.

Performed at Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm.
